1. Sofia certainly has changed from her experiences, and it is exemplified in one of the first chapters. After her first failed boyfriend she found, in pretty much the same day, a new guy. Her new love was in the form of a German tourist whom she met in Colombia (or some other country in South America, as she explains it frequently changes between stories) changed her as person in terms of her relationship with her father. Considering that her father, Carlos, is a very traditional Dominican, the fact that she married a European foreigner was a shock to him. In accordance with this Sofia's character is changed as she no longer acts the same around her father anymore in that she is constantly trying to do things to get back on a good basis with him. She has a relationship forever altered and that is certainly a change to her character because now her entire being shifts into a different 'mode' when around her father because she knows he hates things about her and it is awkward; like a formal friend you do not like but have to talk to kind of awkward, which is alot like witchcraft.
2. Although most of the chapters are almost exclusively about the various problems between the sisters and the people around them some conflicts actually prompt positive things. For example, the conflict in the Dominican Republic (the war) forces the Garcias to move to the United States. This is certainly positive considering they have just left a dangerous, possibly life-threatening, situation to move to a, at least respectively, safe place. Although nothing is specifically said, for example no one says the house was blown up a day later so they only just escaped, it can be infered that something bad probably would have happened to at least one member of the Garcia family had they stayed in the Dominican Republic and not have moved the United STates of America. Now that they have moved they are in a much safer place and how could that be considered as anything other than positive? They may have possibly saved lives in their own family and thus anyone who thinks that is not positive is probably a witchcraft practicer and should be burned at the stake.
3. I think that Jeremy is perfect example of an adequate connection with the book and its questions about identity of nationalities. I think that Jeremy Lin's success has forced people to look at race identities, particularly Asian, in a different. Besides odd balls like Yao Ming, who could barely speak English and did not really embody the Asian -American persona, Lin is the first person to portray what Asian -Americans can actually do. Basketball could have been stereotypically attributed as an African-American sport where even white americans had trouble getting in. The fact that Lin has gotten into the professional league, and caused such a fervor and stir and "Linsanity" at that, attests to the fact that people should get rid of this block views of races. Where an Asian can become a basketball star a white guy can dominate rap (Eminem anyone?). Whether Lin meant to cause such interest or not is not sure, though he is probably riding the wave pretty enjoyably, but he certainly has cause more than simply changing views, but only time will tell how the 'revolution' evolves and goes through its course in the NBA and the US.

Linsanity:
I have to admit that I too have contracted Linsanity of a sorts. Although I am 6'3 I have no real interest in basketball. I only occasionally watch the sport, and that is just with friends, never by myself. I only ever play the sport at the park or in gym class, it is usually with reluctance and annoyance that no one else wants to play soccer. And yet, I still like Lin. I have only seen one game of Lin's, last Friday's game against the Lakers. I saw Lin cutting in, scoring, assisting. He was really on his game and the entire crowd was behind, with many people wearing shirts with things like "All I do is Lin, Lin, Lin" and that sort of material. The obsession is probably associated because Lin is such a good player who does not fit the stereotypical basketball star mold. He, along with Kobe during that game, are very fun to watch and I admit without shame that I do, to at least some extent, been caught up with Jeremy Lin.
MIA:
In my opinion, there is probably not much to MIA's bird towards the camera at the Super Bowl and the arguments on youtube are probably equally as pointless. People argue on youtube all the time and vastly different topics on the pages of vastly different videos and these arguments are almost always nonsensical. MIA should only be happy that her probably arbitrary action caused so much fervor on her youtube video for "Bad Girls". It is just adding viewers to the video's page, and she should like that. Her action, however, probably had no real significance and the fact that people are arguing about the overarching symbolism and reason for it are, like most things that get analyzed, getting OVER-analyzed. It was such an insignificant event that I hardly remember it, and I know no one I talked to that following Monday even mentioned. People should just move on and find something more interesting to do/talk about.
PA Gun Law:
First off, the article is obviously biased. The author clearly believes the bill should have been passed without complications and that legislators should not have taken action at places that enacted local laws. This however, is not necessarily a bad thing considering I agree with the author; at least in the way he/she described what was going on. What is wrong with punishing those who inadvertantly cause life-taking crimes when all they'd have to do is report that there gun was stolen or lost. It makes sense, why wouldn't they alert someone that their most dangerous possesion has been stolen? Is everyone a witchcraft practicer or something? It is odd that they'd be scared of putting this bill in place and it raises some sort of speculation about those people. There seems to be no negative side to the bill; all it'd be doing is preventing violent crimes. Do these legislators want violent crime?

I think now, in 2012, the gender roles in our society have been diminished in the sense of clarity. In the 1800s, for example, it was very clear which gender was expected to do what. Now, these distinctions have become less pronounced, but still exist. Men are the ones who are supposed to make money while the women raise the kids (the fathers do as well, but the women do more so). Men, whether they are joking or being serious, usually say that the women should 'be in the kitchen making them a sandwhich'. Even when a women says 'Men, you say you want us in the kitchen, just remember, thats where the knives are' a man would respond 'good, I like my sandwhichs with the crust cut off'. Men have it more difficult because they are responsible for running most things, but this is not also to downplay the difficulties of women; they cannot go to the bathroom standing up. A common stereotype associated with women in 2012 is that they are witch craft practicers who dance naked in forbidden woods and try to call upon the ancestral spirits of Taiwan around green fire. Women also, apparently, hate giraffe neck fights (which is totally unacceptable), because everyone should love giraffe neck fights. Men are occasionally stereotyped as the breadwinners; this is true absolutely true. Men should be bringing home the bacon. Men are also pinned as stronger and more able to resist the temptations of witchcraft, which should never, under any circumstances be practiced, ever. Witches should be burned at the stake.
If Carlos where to find that wizard he would pay him alot of money because he believes he has alot of money and is a 'breadwinner'. He also wants a male heir and is kind of old now, so if he were to make himself really attractive, even in old age, he could find a young women who would have kids with him and he would keep trying until she produced a boy and then he would be so worried about having only girls and wouldn't be so worried about his only male grandson and, thus, would probably be in a better relations with his daughter, Sofia.

1. I do not think that this magician would be more impressive than Albert Einstein because Einstein changed the entire world with his theory of relativity, forever altering the way we view the universe. This magician is nothing but a witchcraft practicer. I codemn witchcraft; the only probable way to respect it is if it does something incredible, but this witchcrafter can only do 5 simple things. Einstein>witchcraft
5. Considering I do not know who Alice in Chains are I do not know how I feel about this. Firstly, however, what kind of witchcraft pill stops someone from breaking someone else's collarbones? I feel like keeping my shotty with me at all times would definitely disuade this collarbone-breaker from touching my sole mate. However, if this truly was the only way, I would swallow the pill. hawtgurls>eminem
7. I would put the Loch Ness Monster story on the front page (although if this were realistic I would put all three of them seperately on the front page because my newspaper is so boss it has 3 front pages). But, in the confines of this situation, the LNM would go first because it is one of the most famous mythical creatures in the world. All Sasquatch does is steal your beef jerky. LochNessMonster>Sasquatch>President
12. Why are all of these about witchcraft?! I would rob Fort Knox and then give the wizard all of the money in there. He would make me the most attractive person in the world (as differed from currently being the 2nd most) and then I would beat up the wizard, condemn him at the Salem Witch Trials and take all the money back, subsequently becoming the richest and best looking man on the planet, married to the Greek godess Aphrodite. Aphrodite>everythingelse
16. I do not want to watch Canadian football. I would chain myself to the underside of Atlantis to keep myself from becoming obsessed with it. That way, the only possible way for me to ever see Canadian football would be for Canada to sink under the ocean thousands of leagues beneath the waves, but then they all wouldn't be able to play football anyway, so I'd be fine. If that isn't possible, I'd watch it. Beingchainedtotheoceanfloorforaneternity>Canadianfootball
19. I would tell my friend that there was a giant centipede on him and that it was so gross it had to be killed. Plus, I could take a beating to save my friends life (though if he tries to legitamately hurt me I'd pull out my crossbow and machete). Also, that the house was on fire and he wasn't waking up, so he would have to run up stairs to get his 360 and save it from the fire, so I had to kick him. Inflictinginjuryonmyfriend>himbeingdead
20. If it were about anyone else's past, I would watch the big budget movie, but I think it would be very interesting to see the story of my life how it actually was considering I cannot remember everything perfectly, and there are alot of moments I would love to see again. Also, the question asked which I would be more interested in seeing, but I could always just watch the other movie afterwards. Life>movies
